Spa town Janské Lázně

Hotel Arnika is located in a quiet part and yet near the centre of the mountain spa town Janské Lázně (670 m n.m.), renowned for warm and slightly radioactive springs with healing powers that the locals have known about and used for a long time.

The healing springs were discovered here in the 14th century. The spa resort was founded in the 17th century by the landowner Jan Adolf Schwarzenberg. The spa grew and expanded in the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century.

There are about 30 healing springs and a number of spa facilities in the area. Architectural sights include the art nouveau spa colonnade from the end of the 19th century and the pseudogothic church of Saint John the Baptist from 1885.

The location of Hotel Arnika

Hotel Arnika is located about 400 m from the cable-car to the Černá hora („Black Mountain“, 1.299 m above sea level) and a ski resort with the longest ski slope in the Czech mountains. A modern cable-car was introduced in 2006, replacing the cable-way from 1980, which had been built in place of the oldest cable-way in Krkonoše from 1928.

During winter months, the place is ideal for skiing, offering a range of slopes with various degrees of difficulty, ski schools, ski equipment rentals, ski services, snowmaking machines, night skiing on slopes lit by lights. Summer activities in Janské Lázně in Krkonoše

Janské Lázně is the perfect place for hikers and bikers, who can use the regular “cyclo-bus“ connection in Krkonoše area. Mountain bikes and mountain scooters can be rented at the cable-car lower station. You can visit the peat bog of Černá hora, the observation tower on the top of Černá hora or the art workshop Bosorka, where you can make your own T-shirts, jewellery or mosaic mirrors, paint on mugs, make something of clay, spin the potter’s wheel, cast candles or work with enamel. There is a minigolf near the hotel.

All year activities in Janské Lázně in Krkonoše

All year round you can visit the swimming pool complex about 100 m from the hotel (sauna, whirlpool, thermal pool, gym, solarium). There is also a cinema.

  • On warm summer days you can visit the swimming pool Retro park Mladé Buky or the Summer swimming pool in Trutnov.
